Pocahontas

Unique Hand Crafted Wooden Collectible Doll

Pocahontas is the first in their design of "First Nations" or "First American"  and she is a stunning piece carved from solid maple, carved face and body, the face and shoes are hand painted and she is dressed in authentic  (soft beaded buckskin).  Her medicine bag has been made by their local first nation group as well as the small dream catcher which has been designed and made by one of our first nations artisans. She stands 24" tall

 She is a limited edition of 75 pieces world wide

Dressed in soft suede leather, the dress is hand beaded and her fringed cape drapes elegantly over her shoulders.  To finish off her outfit she has a beautiful hand-beaded leather headband.  Her accessories include a traditional medicine bag and a dream catcher.  These accessories have been made for Xenis by our local first nations The People of the Xá:ytem Longhouse Interpretive Centre.

Legend of the Dream catcher:

 According to legend, hanging a dream catcher near a sleeping person causes the bad dreams to be caught in the web, while the dreams enter through the hole in the middle and drift down the feathers to the sleeping person.  Then in the morning, sunlight enters through the hole to melt the bad dreams away.
